Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. When she was five, she moved to Oxfordshire where she studied at The Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma realized she would like to be an actress. For several years, she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied performing and singing. By the time she turned 10 years old, Emma took part in a variety of Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the film from 2001 adaption from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theater teacher. After eight consistent auditions the producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast to play the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It also was the film that was most popular of 2001. The opening weekend and day sales were record-breaking. Critics were impressed with the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph in Britain that is distributed widely, called her performance commendable. Emma's performance received nominations and won five awards later for the movie.
